One of our early projects for the Toronto Chinese Baptist Church was to renovate an existing, but poorly lit basement stair. In order to gain more function from these types of ancillary spaces, C& Partners integrated both signage and storage as well as animated light pockets in the ceiling and handrail to enliven and activate a previously unused space. Simple detailing of warm wood paneling and long stainless steel hardware formalize the space and allow patrons a moment of reflection before ascending the stair to the worship space.
C& Partners continue to work on the rest of the church in different phases, including the stained glass design and main sanctuary design.
